Chassis 001 (C001) has a unique place in the IMSA Daytona Prototype International (DPi) era.
It is the first Acura ARX-05 built by Honda Performance Development (HPD), now Honda Racing Corporation (HRC), for its IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship DPi campaign.
The ARX-05 was developed in partnership by HPD and Oreca. It is based on the Oreca 07 chassis and is powered by the Acura AR35TT twin-turbocharged 3.5l v6 engine.
HPD first collaborated with Penske Motorsports under the Acura Team Penske (ATP) brand to race-develop and campaign the ARX-05. ATP ran the ARX-05 as a two-car team for the 2018, 2019 and 2020 seasons. Wayne Taylor Racing (WTR) and Meyer Shank Racing (MSR) subsequently took over the ARX-05 program for the 2021 and 2022 seasons.
C001 is the first chassis in an eight-chassis run (of which four are running cars). C001 was instrumental in HPD and ATP’s development of the ARX-05 race car. C001 was campaigned as no. 6 by Dane Cameron and Juan Pablo Montoya (joined by Simon Pagenaud as the third driver) for the 2018-2019 seasons, beginning with the Rolex 24 at Daytona in 2018, and ending in 2019 with MOTUL Petit Le Mans at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta. Following its inaugural run at the 2018 Rolex 24 at Daytona, C001 was rebuilt in preparation for the 2019 season. Driving C001 in 2019, Dane Cameron and Juan Pablo Montoya were successful in securing seven podium finishes out of the ten race schedule, including three P1s, and won the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship.

2019 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship - DPi Category
The DPi prototype sportscar era is considered a highly developed formula with tremendous performance, powered by internal combustion engines. The DPi is widely regarded as the final chapter in accessible top-tier prototype race cars that can be campaigned in historic series. In the case of the ARX-05s, HRC, through its new HRC Historics program, has committed to providing factory-level technical and powertrain support.
More recently, C001 was prepared by MSR and includes a fresh HRC-built and dyno tested engine. In September 2025, C001 was tested at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta, supported by HRC trackside engineering, Hudson Historics, and driven by Guy Cosmo.
C001 is race-ready and is presented in the correct ATP livery from the 2019 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship winning season. 2019 was IMSA’s 50th anniversary, as evidenced by the period-correct and unique gold IMSA logos proudly displayed on C001.
