Acura ARX-05 DPi Chassis #005 – 2021 Rolex 24 at Daytona Overall Winner
Few modern prototype race cars can claim true historical significance. Acura ARX-05 DPi Chassis #005 stands among the most important of the modern IMSA era — a Rolex 24 at Daytona overall winner and one of the defining cars of the 2021 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship season.
Campaigned by Wayne Taylor Racing as the No. 10 Konica Minolta Acura ARX-05, this chassis delivered one of the most memorable victories in recent prototype racing history with its overall win at the 2021 Rolex 24 at Daytona — one of the most prestigious endurance races in the world.
Driven by an all-star lineup including Ricky Taylor, Filipe Albuquerque, Alexander Rossi, and Hélio Castroneves, the car dominated the event with speed, reliability, and flawless execution over 24 hours at the iconic Daytona International Speedway.
Beyond Daytona, chassis #005 proved its competitiveness throughout the 2021 season, scoring multiple victories and podium finishes on some of North America’s most legendary circuits. The car secured wins at both Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course and WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca, along with podium finishes at Detroit Belle Isle Street Circuit, the Six Hours of The Glen, the Watkins Glen Sprint Race, and Petit Le Mans, plus a strong 4th-place finish at Road America.
This remarkable campaign resulted in 2nd place in the 2021 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, cementing chassis #005 as one of the most successful prototypes of the season.
Uniquely, this chassis competed exclusively during the 2021 championship season, making appearances only at the races listed above and later participating in the Roar Before the Rolex 24 in 2022 before being retired from competition. As such, it remains a remarkably original and historically intact example of one of the most successful DPi prototypes ever built.
The Acura ARX-05, developed by Acura in partnership with ORECA, represents the pinnacle of the Daytona Prototype International era — a technologically advanced and highly successful platform that delivered multiple championships and endurance race victories during its tenure in IMSA competition.
Today, Chassis #005 represents an extraordinary opportunity to acquire one of the most historically significant modern prototypes available to private collectors. With a Rolex 24 overall victory, multiple race wins, and a championship-contending season to its name, it stands as a true centerpiece for any serious racing collection, museum, or historic racing program.
Cars of this provenance — combining modern prototype engineering with a major international endurance victory— rarely come to market.
Chassis #005 is not simply a race car.
It is a piece of IMSA history.

The Revival
Chassis 005 underwent a full rebuild and race preparation performed by current HRC-factory affiliate Capone Motorsports, in conjunction with HRC. Every detail was looked after, rebuilt, crack tested and prepared as if it were about to campaign another season in the grueling IMSA WeatherTech Sportscar Championship. A fresh engine, new fuel cell, seat belts and plenty more went into the revival of this iconic machine. It’s final set-up and track preparation were performed and was shaken down by professional racer Guy Cosmo.
This icon is 100% ready-to-race.
At-track support, remote support, parts ordering and engine rebuilds are available by HRC, who has committed to the continued support for the ARX-05’s in customer hands.
