The Ultimate Competitor:
2013 Riley MkXXVI Gen 3
For those who understand the evolution of the Grand-Am and IMSA era, the Riley MkXXVI represents the ultimate refinement of the Daytona Prototype. This is Chassis AA010, a 2013 Generation 3 machine that stands as one of the most capable and visually striking Daytona Prototypes ever built.
The Generation 3 era was a "clean-sheet" evolution. Unlike its predecessors, the Gen 3 featured a significantly smaller, more aerodynamic greenhouse and more elegant, flowing lines. These changes weren't just for aesthetics; they provided a more modern aerodynamic profile while retaining the legendary Riley durability.
Chassis AA010 has a pedigree to match its engineering. This chassis was a cornerstone for Starworks Motorsport during their transition to BMW power, and proved an immediate success with a notable victory at Road America with drivers Brendon Hartley and Scott Mayer. Between 2013-2015 chassis AA010 featured celebrity drivers such as ex-Formula 1 driver Rubens Barichello, the soon-to-be Formula 1 driver Brendon Hartley, IndyCar star Ryan Hunter-Reay and sports car racing stalwarts Enzo Potolicchio, Ryan Dalziel and more. After it’s time at Starworks it later served with distinction for the champions at Alegra Motorsports during their 2016 campaign at the Twelve Hours of Sebring.
Today, this Riley is presented in fully race-prepared condition. Under the rear deck is a visceral Dinan-prepared BMW V8 engine. This isn't just a survivor; it is a meticulously maintained weapon, updated with current safety systems and a brand-new fuel cell, ensuring it meets the most stringent requirements of modern historic grids.
In the world of vintage racing—specifically HSR and Masters Endurance Legends—this Generation 3 Riley is a consistent front-runner. It offers the raw, mechanical connection of a classic prototype with the aerodynamic efficiency of the modern era.
Perhaps most importantly for the serious competitor, this car is offered with a comprehensive spares package, making it a true "arrive and drive" opportunity for the next owner.
Opportunities to own a genuine Generation 3 Daytona Prototype with this level of documented race history and professional preparation are rare. This Riley MkXXVI is a testament to an era of grit and a ticket to the front of the pack. It’s ready for the collector who knows that some legends belong on the track.
